Emergency Training...to make a difference
Welcome to the Hunter Medics website. Our courses are many and varied and frequently tailor-made for our clients. The Menu will take you through the organisation's courses, links, and contacts.
First aid gives a person general information about what to do to make a difference in a medical emergency. There are a variety of things that people can do every day to ensure that a person receives adequate medical attention in the event of sudden illness or injury.
First aid will tell you what steps you need to take before the ambulance or other medical professional arrives.
First aid will also give you an idea of what kind of injuries and illnesses are life-threatening and require immediate attention.
Many people are required to learn first aid for their jobs. If you work with children or in a job where medical problems or accidents are common, it may be required by your employer for you to learn about first aid. First aid in an urban environment is unlike that for remote area outdoor activities; thus the depth into which courses for these activities eventually go is much greater.
First aid training should enable the person who will eventually administer the care to give the casualty an opportunity to recover quicker, with a trained person, who will ensure that, with no predjudice, the first aider will have the casualty's best interest at heart, and is capable of taking command of the situtation - whatever or however serious that situtation may be. We educate as well as train; this is a very important distinction, especially in our outdoor courses. Taking command of situations demands sometimes more than just first aid. We have, as a team, 'been there' and can bring to you a very wide range of first-hand emergency management experience. We believe it is this which sets us apart from other organisations.
